ABOUT
I am an astrophysicist at the E.A. Milne Centre for Astrophysics in the University of Hull and a lecturer in the Centre of Excellence for Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Modelling (DAIM). Welcome to my website!
I work on radio astronomy of pulsars, using some of the most sensitive telescopes in the world. My main areas of research are pulsar timing, the interstellar medium, and single pulse emission from pulsars. If you have questions about my work, feel free to contact me or follow me on Bluesky @drjamesmckee.bsky.social |

PUBLIC OUTREACH
I give public outreach talks around the UK, most recently at Pint of Science - let me know if you would like me to speak at your event/society!
I was awarded funding by The University of Manchester Library to digitise the Jodrell Bank Observatory logbooks from the past 50 years, which you can access here. As well as being very valuable to the decades-long experiments run by the observatory, these books are now of historical importance. Some of these even pre-date the term 'pulsar'!

I acted as a consultant for the Moscow Planetarium documentary Colorful Universe (Разноцветная вселенная), directed by Alexandra Sharhun. The documentary won the MIFF Special Award from the Fulldome Festival Minsk director and the Dobra Fund in 2019 - here is the trailer!
I was interviewed for the JodCast about my work on pulsar timing arrays and the LEAP project.
